Hideaway Island Resort and Marine Sanctuary is located just 10 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes by ferry from the mainland beach.  This beautiful little island offers a 3 star, great value for money resort, perfect for families.  Hideaway Island Resort Vanuatu was voted by Holidays with Kids readers as one of the Top 10 family resorts in 2013.

Surrounded by clear turquoise water, coral reefs and thousands of fish, this Melanesian style resort is the custodian of one of Vanuatu’s only marine sanctuaries. Coral reefs ideal for snorkeling or scuba diving right from the shore are home to thousands of ‘tame’ fish. Our experienced PADI Instructors and Divemasters will ensure you see the best of every site. There is also plenty for the non-diver to do.

A day on the island can be as busy or as quiet as you want to make it. In addition to snorkeling and scuba diving, you can try sailing and beach volleyball, or use Hideaway as a base for a myriad of other tours and activities such as game fishing, visiting the Cascade Waterfalls or playing a round of golf just across the bay. If you prefer a more relaxing holiday, you can always just sit back, relax and enjoy a beverage or meal from our beachfront restaurant as you enjoy the view of beautiful Mele Bay.

Bungalows rim the perimeter of the Island and the Restaurant and Bar are on the beautiful white sandy beach

Water Activities include
Diving

Hideaway Island is a divers paradise.  Hideaway is a PADI five star training facility offering professional instruction in the calm, pristine water of our marine sanctuary.  Why scuba in a pool when you can learn to dive in our marine sanctuary?  We have it all….90 metre walls, 2 wrecks, coral reefs and a huge variety of tropical fish.

Snorkeling

When you’re staying at a marine sanctuary, the obvious attraction is the coral and tropical fish life. We provide our guests with free use of snorkeling equipment so that you can make the most of the wonders at your doorstep. Wander off the shore to hand feed thousands of ‘tame’ fish, or join our daily snorkel safari to the fringing reef where you can see a variety of coral and marine life  in 2-4m of water. Every day at noon our dive barge transports guests to the outer reef.  A dive guide will accompany you in the water, while the boat and driver remain at the site while you snorkel.

Underwater Post Office

Swim and snorkel a short distance from shore and post an underwater postcard to share your Hideaway experience with friends and family from our world famous underwater post office.

Glass Bottom Boat

Another option is to join one of our daily glass bottom boat trips around the surrounding reef.  This is a huge hit with swimmers and non-swimmers alike as they view the marine life through clear glass panels.

Kayaking/Pedal Boats

For those who’d rather rely on muscle power, we have ocean kayaks and pedal boats available

Sailing

For the sailors, or would be sailors, we have a Maricat catamaran for your use. Sailing on beautiful Mele Bay following the tropical breezes, this twin hulled sporty little vessel can provide an idyllic way to pass the time.
