Should I take my kids to Las Vegas is a common question we hear, well my answer is a definite yes! We just returned from a family holiday to America and Vegas was one of my favourite destinations. There is something for everyone in larger than life Las Vegas. There are plenty of family shows, activities, sights to see and as a bonus many are free or cheap. The whole strip is just amazing with its themed hotels and bright lights, plus the Grand Canyon an easy day trip away... a must do destination in America.
Here's just a sample of what families can do in Vegas...
- Walk the strip - Whilst in Las Vegas you must walk the strip, all the hotels have something amazing to see from aquariums to lion habitats, water shows, thrill rides, flamingos, replicas of world attractions plus some amazing shopping and dining.
- Watch a live act - You are spoilt for choice when it comes to world class shows in Vegas. Many of them are suitable for families such as a circus act, a magic show, a dance performance or a musical. Most hotels have some free shows or entertainment in their foyers and gardens.
- The stratosphere - The stratosphere is a hotel and also the tallest sky scraper in America. You can pay to go to the observation deck or for the extra crazy adrenalin junkies out there you can go on the three thrill rides on the very top 1,000 feet up. Nothing like hanging off the top of America's tallest building just strapped in at the waist. If that doesnt get your heart racing nothing will.. incase you're wondering yes I did do all three rides with my kids!
- The Bellagio - Every half an hour the Bellagio puts on a magnificent water show right out the front, it is a must see.
- Treasure Island - Treasure Island as seen on Miss Congeniality puts on a magnificent pirate show with great fire and water affects right on the strip every night.
- The Golden nugget - A downtown hotel located a few kms from the strip has the biggest gold nugget on display in the world. But its their pool and waterslide that goes right through the middle of a shark aquarium that will have the kids and adults fascinated.
- Circus Circus have free circus shows running throughout the day. World class acrobats, trapeze, jugglers and more. Plus an indoor theme park and a whole level dedicated to sideshow games. Kids will love this one!
- You cant visit Vegas without seeing the Grand Canyon. Located approx 4 - 5 hours away by vehicle there are a range of options available to see this amazing natural attraction. From scenic flights, helicopter tours, buses, limo, drive yourself...choice is yours
